The first meeting from the CCA stables for the Race Night and BBQ was excellent, with plenty of families coming out in the sunshine to support our fundraising and really getting into the spirit of things!
First off, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make sure that the event went well! Whether you were involved in the planning and preparations, the event itself, clearing up afterwards (or in lots of cases all 3!!!) – we couldn’t have done it without you.
We’ve received lots of positive feedback from the people who attended, and based on the requests for a re-match it looks like it could well become an annual event.
The highlight of the evening was the final race – The Garden Shed & Arthur Lane Nurseries Cup - where our the teachers took to the saddle and played jockeys. What a fine bunch they were too. Despite no formal training, it was a closely fought race although there always has to be a winner and Horse No 8 – Kicking Katie – owned and trained by Katie Bebbington romped home with Mr Heaton as Jockey.
Requests have since been made from Mrs Hicks and Miss Duckworth to book the next race meeting into the calendar early enough so they can commence their training to challenge Mr Heaton and knock him off the top spot. The Bookies were glad that the “rank outsiders” – Christine & Mr Gerrard – didn’t romp home, although the pay-outs would have been less if the “favourite” – Mr Matheson – would have pipped Mr Heaton at the post.
The horses are now resting after a busy night, back in their stables.
On Saturday 27th June 2015 our athletics team took part in the annual Bury Junior Schools Athletics Championships at Bury Athletics Club, Market Street track.

Friday 20th March and lots of excitement around our school today waiting for the solar eclipse to happen. All classes watched live news feeds about the eclipse. Chidren with their eclipse glasses were outside watching the event. A great experience for everyone!
A Whacky Hair Style was the order of the day for children and staff on Comic Relief Day. Mr Gerrard explained in assembly what comic relief is all about and why we raise funds for such a worthwhile cause. Then the fun began...Children's names were drawn and their job was to give teachers a make over. The best make over won a prize. Off went the children with their teachers to give them a make-over that they wouldn't forget . Once they had finished the children and their teacher came back into the hall and a winner was chosen by the loudest claps and cheers. The school chose Miss Duckworth and her team for creating the best make-over.

A big Thank You to everyone for their generous donations! We have raised a fantastic £214.60 so far!
World Book Day.
Our children and staff dressed as characters from their favourite books to celebrate World Book Day. In assembly Miss Canavan explained about World Book Day and all classes stood up individually so everyone could see their fanatastic creations.
We held a competition for the 'best dressed' from each class which was very difficult as everyone had made a fantastic effort. The winners received a £5 voucher to spend at our after school book fair.
To end the day, teachers went to a different year group than their own and read to the children their favourite stories as a special treat for our children and staff too!
