Chinese New Year 2017
The whole school came together on Monday 30th January to celebrate the Chinese New Year (Rooster) 2017. All children were asked to wear red or something Chinese.
A special lunch of sweet and sour chicken and rice, noodles and prawn crackers were served to the children at lunchtime.
In the afternoon, Mr Gerrard held a special assembly! All classes proudly displayed their Chinese items that they had made in class. Nursery and Reception made a beautiful 'Rooster' and sang the song Kung Hai Fat Choy beautifully to the whole school. Years 1 and 2 made Chinese Dragons and proudly danced their way around the school hall. Years 3 and 4 displayed masks and lucky money envelopes that they had created. Finally Years 5 and 6 showed their chinese plates that they had designed, then recited the numbers 1 to 10 in Mandarin perfectly.
Mr Gerrard finished off the assembly by explaining the story of the Great Race by the animals and then we all wished each other a 'Kung Hai Fat Choi' (Happy New Year).
