Victorian Day
Year Five have spent a day as a child in Victorian Times. The children all took part in a role play of a typical school day. They all dressed in appropriate costume and had to sit in rows.
All day they had to get used to being addressed by their second name and standing up whenever an adult entered the classroom. They learnt a poem by rote, practised spellings, tried to produce copperplate writing and had a drill on the school yard. At playtime the children played with old fashioned games and then had an object lesson on the potato!
The children all found the experience very different to a normal school day and they were exceptionally well behaved. Miss Canavan and Mrs Hardman found it the quietest day of the year so far!

Children In Need 2013
On Friday 15th November, our children and staff came to school dressed as celebrities, sports personalities and other famous people to help raise funds for the charity ‘Children In Need’. Here are our Year 5 children dressed for the occasion! |
