Bonfire apples 🍎

Happy Bonfire Night!
Today we talked to the children about some of the traditions and also the food that people enjoy eating on Bonfire Night; such as parkin, jacket potatoes and toffee apples. We explained that toffee apples are very hard and might hurt our teeth, so we decided to make delicious chocolate apples instead 😁 with lots of sprinkles 👍.
Miss Cleavely talked to the children about melting the hard chocolate in the microwave and we gave all the children a lollypop stick to press into their apple. Once the chocolate had melted, we encouraged the children to give their apple a big swirl around the bowl and get it as sticky as possible. The nursery joined in with gusto 😂.
The final job was to dip the apples into sprinkles. They children worked on their gross motor skills and had lots of fun. The apples look fabulous; all ready to take home and enjoy on Bonfire Night 🎉🔥🎉
