Guitar
Year Five have been learning to play guitar since September, so we thought it would be a good idea to show you how they are getting on.
Mr Wallace is a very patient teacher and he is really pleased with the progress they have made so far. Three of the class have separate guitar lessons, so you never know what may happen in the future for our budding musicians. Remember it all started in Year Five!
Hopefully we will update you with their progress later in the year.

Victorian Day
Year Five have spent a day as a child in Victorian Times. The children all took part in a role play of a typical school day. They all dressed in appropriate costume and had to sit in rows.
All day they had to get used to being addressed by their second name and standing up whenever an adult entered the classroom. They learnt a poem by rote, practised spellings, tried to produce copperplate writing and had a drill on the school yard. At playtime the children played with old fashioned games and then had an object lesson on the potato!
The children all found the experience very different to a normal school day and they were exceptionally well behaved. Miss Canavan and Mrs Hardman found it the quietest day of the year so far!

Children In Need 2013
| On Friday 15th November, our children and staff came to school dressed as celebrities, sports personalities and other famous people to help raise funds for the charity ‘Children In Need’. Here are our Year 5 children dressed for the occasion! |

Year 5 Investigating Gravity
As part of a topic on the Earth, Sun & Moon, Year 5 have been investigating gravity.
Using a coin as a weight the class were asked to investigate how they could reduce the time it takes for the coin to hit the ground.
The winning parachute took 1.86 seconds!
