Our visit to Church

Thankfully the weather stayed dry as the Early Years children set off for their annual Christmas visit to Church. Miss Canavan accompanied us and made sure that all the cars stopped so that 60 three to five year olds could safely cross the road 👍. We were greeted at Church by Reverend Dave, who our Reception children know very well as he married 2 of them last year 😍.
Reverend Dave showed the children the crib and talked about the figures in the stable. He told us that the shepherds gave the baby Jesus a lamb when he was born. The 3 wise men were missing, but eventually we spotted them on top of the font. Reverend Dave explained that they had a hard journey ahead of them and hadn’t reached the stable yet. Also as baby Jesus wasn't born until Christmas Day, He wasn’t in the stable either 😀.
The children listened very well as Reverend Dave read them a Christmas story and then they sang ‘Away in a manger’ wonderfully for him.
We were then treated to a tour of the Church. The children spotted the font, organ, stained glass windows and the altar, where they knelt on the cushions without even being told 👏👍. Lots of children wanted to climb the pulpit, to stand and look across the pews, just like Reverend Dave does.
A huge thank you to Reverend Dave for letting us visit Church today. We had a lovely experience and learnt that Christians believe that Church is God’s house and a very special place. Well done children for being so sensible  😍⛪️.
