Today we decided to make bat biscuits for the Halloween party tomorrow 🦇.
The children listened carefully as I explained that we had to weigh out the right ingredients and follow the recipe. Once we'd measured out the flour, butter and sugar, we added these into the mixing bowl and stirred, before adding one egg. Then my wonderful helpers did a fabulous job of stiring the mixture together. Once the dough became firm the children kneaded it, before using their gross motor strength to press the dough down flat.
The children used the bat cutter very well, pressing it down into the dough and giving it a good wobble. We put our dough bats onto a buttered baking tray and the teachers put them in the oven for 10 minutes. We were amazed to see that the biscuits had gotten bigger in the oven. Mrs Connelly explained that biscuits rise in the oven. They smelt wonderful and we left them on the side to cool down ready to eat at the party.
Today at the party everyone agreed that the biscuits we had made were the best biscuits ever 🦇😀. We hope that you enjoyed making them children, you are all so clever 🦇😍.
