Our Nursery children worked so hard on Thursday morning designing and creating their own magic wands. Firstly each child selected a stick of their choice. They discussed the length, thickness and shape of their stick whilst developing their language skills comparing it to all the other wands. Some of the children chose to snap their stick to make it smaller whilst others attached 2 sticks together using cellotape and glue to make it longer. Then the children selected a range of bright, sparkly creative materials to decorate their wands including glitter, feathers, sparkles, tissue paper, ribbons and tinsel. Many children chose to use scissors to cut out different shapes whilst other children decided to wrap sparkly pipe cleaners around their wands. We even pressed some blu-tak on to our wands to help us attach some of the trickier resources. The children were thrilled with the finished products which all looked completely different. Then they had to decide upon their own magic words and think of a spell that they could use on somebody else. I must say I was turned into a frog many times yesterday 🐸😀. The children let their wands dry and then used them in the mud kitchen in the afternoon to create some super muddy spells and spooky dens. Fabulous work 🙌🏻🌟🌟
