The Three Claimants To The English Throne!
On January 5th 1066, the King of England, Edward the Confessor died. He was 61 years old.
He had no children, and it was not clear who would be King. It was up to the Witan (the council of leading nobles) to decide who should be King next.
Year 4 went into 3 groups and each group gave the reasons why their candidate should be King.
This was a super session and each group gave very convincing points!
Please look at the show to see the contenders for the throne!
The Bayeux Tapestry
Year 4 are learning about the Normans. They have learned all about the Bayeux Tapestry and how its about 70 metres (230 ft) long.
It tells the story of the William the Conqueror's invasion of England and the Battle of Hastings..
About 6 metres of the Bayeux Tapestry are missing. These scenes would probably have centered around William I’s coronation.
Year 4 set to work designing the missing pieces of the Bayeux Tapestry.
