Characteristics of effective learning

The characteristics of effective learning are shown in the picture above - and are different ways in which children engage in their learning through play and become independent learners.

In Nursery we will look at 6 different books over the course of the year that link to these characteristics.

The first book that we are going to focus on is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt ‘ by Michael Rosen. One of this text’s key themes is ‘exploring’ - hence we will use this book to help our children understand what explorers do and explain that we want them to be explorers too πŸ‘.

To be effective learners our children need to be able to explore their environment, for instance, our classroom areas, our outdoor provision and the woods where we welly walk too.

If your child  goes on any days out over the weekend or over half term, please send us photos via tapestry and write a little comment explaining what was explored. We will display these photos in our classroom and talk to the children about any new places that they have visited / explored.

Thank you 😊
