Gruffalo habitats πŸ¦ŠπŸπŸ¦‰

The children have been finding out all about the different woodland habitats where our Gruffalo characters live. We firstly looked at some of the illustrations from the story and compared them to some non-fiction photographs using some fantastic descriptive language.  We had a habitat hunt around our outdoor area and collected some logs, sticks, small branches, leaves and feathers. The children used the natural resources to make a fantastic log pile house for snake, a tree top house for owl and we even dug a little underground house for Fox. The children learnt lots of new skills whilst constructing the homes and they were very excited to introduce the animals to their new habitats. We enjoyed re-enacting different parts of the story in our very own woodland setting. Great team work children πŸ˜€
