Teddy Bear's Picnic
On Thursday 2nd July, Year1 & Year 2 held their 'Teddy Bear's Picnic'. All week our children and staff have worked so hard preparing lots of delicious food and drinks for everyone to enjoy on the day.
The weather was kind to us, a few drops of rain didn't spoil the wonderful atmosphere.
We hope you all enjoyed the food and had a fantastic time.
Thank you for the lovely emails, cards & letters that we have received, they were very much appreciated and as always, thank you all for your continued support throughout the year!
Mrs Hicks, Miss Wilkinson and the Infant Team.
We have been learning all about the Queen. We have looked at where she lives, when she had her coronation and all about her family. These two videos show us singing the National Anthem:

Visit from Bury Fire Service
This week we had a special visit from Bury fire service. The firemen talked to us about their jobs as fire fighters and about the dangers of fires. We had a look at the fire engine and all of the equipment they carry on it. The firemen made us all jump by testing the sirens. In the classroom the fire fighters talked to us about their uniform. Miss Wilkinson and Mrs Williams had to dress up as a fire fighter, they said their uniform was very heavy.
Here are some pictures from the visit:
During our famous people topic, we have been looking at Princess Diana. We created a timeline showing all of the interesting facts about her life. We then looked at how photographers captioned iconic images of her, focusing on portrait photographs. Then we all had a go at taking our own portraits using a professional camera. After that we looked at a famous artist called Andy Warhol, who created a colourful portrait of Princess Diana. From the photographs we took we then created our own artwork in the style of Andy Warhol. Here are the results:
Year 3's decided after learning all about magnets to make their very own magnet games for Year 1 pupils to play and enjoy!
Year 1 loved the games you had made and enjoyed playing with them very much!
Well Done Year 3 and thank you for coming to visit us!

Today we had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. We dressed up as our favourite book characters and we talked about our favourite stories. In the afternoon we had a special visit from Miss Duckworth who read us her favourite book which was Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.
Here are some pictures of us dressed up as our favourite book character:
Friday 6th March
In maths this week we have been learning to name, recognise and discuss the properties of 3D shapes. Here are some pictures of the 3D shapes we made:
St. David's Day
In RE we have been learning about the life of David. We have learnt that he was a monk who lived in the 6th Century and he went all around Wales to spread the news of Christianity to people. We made daffodils and coloured pictures in celebration of St. David's Day.
Chinese New Year
Friday 13th February
This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We have learnt that every year has one of 12 animals assigned to it and 2015 is the Year of the Goat. We also looked at how people celebrate Chinese New Year and we found out that they make paper lanterns and decorations. Here are some pictures of us making our own Chinese decorations:
How to Build a Snowman- Instructions
Friday 16th January
This week we have been learning about instructions. We have talked about different types of instructions and why we need them. We have started to look at the types of words used within instructions such as time connectives. We then followed a set of instructions to build a snowman, discussing the importance of making sure the instructions are in the correct order.
We made poppies on Remembrance Day to remember all who fought in World War 1. We talked about how it had been a 100 years since the start of World War 1 and we discussed why people wear poppies.
We finished our topic on pirates with a pirate party. We talked about the pirate ships we made, including the materials they were made from and how we built them. We sang some pirate songs and we ate some pirate food.
